Ellen DeGeneres's Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Roasted Sweet Potatoes


2 lbs. sweet potatoes

Juice of one orange

1 Tbsp. olive oil

1 tsp. chopped fresh thyme

½ tsp. ground cinnamon

¾ tsp. sea salt, divided

1/8 tsp. ground black pepper

Trim the ends off of the sweet potatoes and cut each potato into small cubes. Place the potatoes in a large bowl and coat with a mixture of the rest of the ingredients. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the potatoes to the baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 30 minutes (or until tender) at 425 degrees, stirring the potatoes after 15 minutes.

Ellen DeGeneres was born on January 26, 1958, in Louisiana. As a child, she dreamed of becoming a veterinarian, but she gave up the idea to pursue comedy. She hit it big as a stand-up comedian before starring on her own sitcom, Ellen. She has been the host of her own award-winning talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, since 2003. In addition to being a comedian, television host, actress, author, and executive producer, she owns her own record label and has a lifestyle brand that sells shoes, home and baby items, accessories, and a pet line.

Did you know the letters in M&Ms candy stand for Mars and Murrie? Forrest Mars (son of the Mars Company founder) teamed up with Bruce Murrie (son of Hershey Chocolate’s president) to create chocolate candies encased in a hard, sugary shell that “Melts in Your Mouth, Not in Your Hand.” The signature “M” wasn’t stamped on the candies until 1950. They were originally packaged in cardboard tubes, which made them easy to pour and ship. They were a hit with World War II soldiers.
