George R.R. Martin's Creamed Corn

Creamed Corn

2 Tbsp. butter
5 cups frozen corn, thawed
½ cup heavy cream
¾ tsp. salt
½ tsp. black pepper
1.5 Tbsp. sugar
Pinch cayenne pepper
Pinch ground nutmeg
1 cup whole milk
3 Tbsp. flour

In a saucepan, melt butter and combine with corn, cream, salt, pepper, sugar, cayenne pepper, and nutmeg. In a small bowl, whisk together milk and flour. Pour into corn mixture and stir to combine. Cook while constantly stirring for at least five minutes, or until corn is tender.

George R.R. Martin was born September 20, 1948, in Bayonne, New Jersey. His interest in science fiction and fantasy literature began as a young child. He received a Master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Early in his career, he had little luck selling television pilots and screenplays. He is best known for writing the series of epic fantasy novels, A Song of Ice and Fire, which were adapted into the HBO series, Game of Thrones. He served as a co-executive producer and won three Emmy Awards when GOT was named best outstanding drama series.
